How do I become an Ordained minister?
We require a written request to be an ordained minister. You can mail you request to:
Universal Life Church, Headquarters
601 Third St. Modesto, CA 95351
Email you request to: ulchq@aol.com

Can I be ordained over the phone?
No, our policy has always required a written request for ordainment.

What information do you need to ordain me?
We require your FULL LEGAL NAME, current mailing address and a little note somewhere on the letter/fax/email stating " I would like to be an ordained minister".
*Note: If someone has a questionable name, we do require proof of that name. A photocopy of their driver's license is enough proof. If someone is changing their last name because they are getting married, we do not require proof of this. If they are legally changing their name or going through a divorce and reverting back to their maiden name, we do need to see some type of documentation stating such.

What do I get with my ordainment?
All new ministers, NOT IN PRISON, get a ministers handbook and a certificate with their name and date of ordainment typed on it.

What is in the minister's package?
The minister's package comes with a minister's certificate specially printed with their choice of one of our pre-approved fonts and a gold foil seal at the bottom, a ministers handbook and a wallet ID typed with their name and address.

What can I do as an ordained minister?
As an ordained minister of the ULC, you are able to perform any duties and ceremonies that any other ordained minister of any other church/faith/religion can perform. Some states do have specific instructions for ministers; please refer to the State Laws section of our website.

Can I be ordained online?
At this time you are only able to submit your request to be ordained online. ALL ordainment is done at Headquarters in Modesto, CA One of our approved websites, run out of Arizona, gives a printed "certificate"; this is not proof of ordainment. It is ONLY a receipt of your request to be ordained.

How much does it cost to be ordained?
We do not charge for ordaining ministers; however we do accept any and all donations.
